I've started the year by trying to finish up some UFO's. I've blocked a few finished knitting projects in the last few weeks and sewed the seams on others. Here are a few:
A Shrug for my niece:
Two needle socks for Mom:
Blocked my Snowflakes and Flowers Shawl (again for Mom):
Blocked my Hypernova (for me!). We've had a bit of a cold spell for the last few days and I got to wear it last night!!:
I also blocked a few baby items, but I'll post those after they have been gifted. I'm also trying this year to knit the stash down. I exported my stash in Ravelry to Excel and found out the total yardage in my stash, I will not be sharing that figure here, but let's just say it was alot. So far I've made a few cowls. I have one finished that has already been gifted to my Aunt. It's the Garter Swirl Snood made from Granito by Trendsetter.
I just finished knitting two more cowls and will post them as soon as they finish blocking.
On the quilting and sewing front I've been working on getting some of the quilt tops finished. One I've gifted to Mom as a wall hanging so unfortunately no picture (maybe when I go visit I'll get a photo of it). The other is my purple quilt that I started back in '08. I quilted it with a simple grid.
And last but not least, I made a pillowcase for my DH. I found the cutest drag racing fabric online. This will be perfect for my DH to take with him when the guys go on overnight drag racing trips. I used the tube method but also did french seams so there would be no raw edges. It was so easy to do that I have four more ready to sew to donate to ConKerr Cancer. My LQS is a drop off for the pillowcases and I have so much novelty fabric in the stash that it's a great way to donate to charity and sew down some of the stash to make room for new fabrics!
With the cold spell we've been having little Ricky is doing his best to stay warm, good thing I have lots of quilts around the house:
