A Friendly Challenge

Yesterday, K-Ro and I took road trip to Once Upon A Quilt in Fort Lauderdale.  I really loved the shop.  They had a great selection of fabrics and also a nook with yarn!  There was one fabric that I was really drawn to but wasn't sure what to do with, so K-Ro solved that problem for me.  She issued a friendly challenge - make something utilizing that fabric.

The fabric is from the "Isabella" collection by Riley Blake Designs.

After picking out a few more fabrics, I sat down and started sketching out a design that featured the large flower.

Today was spent cutting out all the pieces for the blocks and I was able to piece together most of the top.  I still need to add the border, which I haven't quite decided on yet, and finish up the quilt.  It should be a nice size when finished that I'll either hang over the couch in my craft room or use as a lap throw.

And, since the quilting bug has been hitting me lately, I dug out a quilting UFO and think I'll try to finish that one up too.  I also just dropped off another quilt to the long arm quilter on Monday, but more about that quilt later.
