Geese

Today I played around with some flying geese.  I did a traditional quilt block, I think it's called Wild Goose Chase.



Then I decided to try something a little "modern" and this is what I came up with.



I'm still slowly working on my Plume quilt.  I finished sewing the borders around the kaleidoscope blocks today and added the HST's to the corners.   Now I can't decide if I want to border the inside peacock panel with the gold border or not.





I also made an extra herringbone/chevron block for the February Mod Quilt Bee.  This one I'll keep for myself to create a sampler quilt at the end of the bee.  It was a wonderful idea that a Bee member thought of.

Plume Quilt

I continued playing with my plume fabric this weekend.  I'm sort of making it up as I go and realized I'm going to have a few interesting seams to sew.  I'm taking my time with this quilt, I only wish I had a full size design wall and not just my little one on my fabric cabinet.


I also finished the first block for the South Florida Modern Quilt Bee.  Nicole at Patchwork Duck  is the Queen Bee for February and requested a scrappy block using this herringbone tutorial.



A member of the quilt bee had the idea of making an extra block each month to create a sampler quilt.  I love that idea because I'll have two quilts at the end of the bee, so now I need to make another block for my sampler.

Plume Kaleidoscope Block

Today I played around with the Plume fabric from Timeless Treasures.  I think I'm going to use a few of the prints to make some kaleidoscope blocks.  Maybe I'll enter the contest....

Pop of Color Quilt continued

I absolutely LOVE!!! my latest quilt "Pop of Color".  The colors in the new Moda line "Stitch in Color" by Malka Dubrawsky are so vibrant.  I used one layer cake and a charcoal grey solid for the background.  I basically did a simple square in a square block and offset the blocks.  I'm still deciding if I'm going to add a true border or leave as is.  Now I just need to decide what I want to do with the backing fabric.

Now I'm going to play with my Plume fabric from Timeless Treasures.

Pop of Color

Today I finished piecing the blocks for my next quilt.  I started to lay them out but unfortunately my table is not big enough so tomorrow I'll lay them out on our bed and fiddle with block placement.
